  • Author: Anna Adam
  • Total Time: 2 h 40 min
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Description

This no-fuss recipe uses tender beef stew meat, dry onion soup mix, and rich mushroom gravy to create a deeply flavorful meal with minimal effort. The “no peek” method locks in moisture and flavor while the oven does all the work.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs beef stew meat, cubed
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) brown gravy

  • 1/2 cup water or beef broth (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)

  • 1/2 cup chopped onions or mushrooms (optional)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).

  2. In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup, brown gravy, onion soup mix, and water.

  3. Place beef in a 9×13 baking dish.

  4. Pour sauce mixture over the beef and stir to coat evenly.

  5. Cover the dish tightly with foil. Do not open while baking.

  6. Bake for 2.5 to 3 hours until beef is fork-tender.

  7. Let rest for 5–10 minutes. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Swap cream of mushroom for cream of celery or dairy-free alternatives.
  • For gluten-free, use gluten-free soups and gravies.
  • Add chopped vegetables like carrots or bell peppers for a one-pan meal.
  • Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley or crispy onions for texture and color.
