Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank or sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 2 tbsp water or beef broth
  • Optional: red chili flakes, green onions, sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Marinate the beef in soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, sesame oil, pepper, and cornstarch for 15–30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a wok or skillet and cook the beef in batches for 2–3 minutes per side. Set aside.
  3. Stir-fry peppers and onion in the same pan for 2–3 minutes.
  4. Add beef back in with water/broth and stir-fry everything together for 1–2 minutes.
  5. Serve hot over rice and garnish as desired.

Notes

  • Substitute tofu or mushrooms for a vegan version.
  • Use tamari or coconut aminos for a gluten-free option.
  • Spice it up with chili flakes or jalapeños.
  • Serve with jasmine rice, noodles, or in lettuce wraps.
