Ingredients

Scale
For the Beef Tips:
  • 2 lbs beef stew meat (sirloin tips, chuck, or tenderloin)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil or butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
For the Gravy:
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • ½ cup red wine (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
Optional Additions:

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • ½ cup diced onions
  • 1 tsp thyme or rosemary

Instructions

  1. Sear the Beef: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season beef tips and sear until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Gravy: In the same skillet, melt butter and whisk in flour. Cook until golden brown. Slowly add beef broth while whisking to avoid lumps.
  3. Simmer: Add Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, soy sauce, and red wine (if using). Stir well and return the beef to the pan.
  4. Cook Until Tender: Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30-45 minutes until the beef is tender.
  5. Serve & Enjoy: Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles. Garnish with parsley.

Notes

  • Gluten-Free: Use cornstarch instead of flour for thickening.
  • Dairy-Free: Swap butter for olive oil.
  • Low-Carb: Serve with cauliflower mash instead of potatoes.
  • Serving Suggestions: Pairs well with mashed potatoes, cornbread, or roasted vegetables. A bold red wine like Cabernet Sauvignon complements the dish beautifully.
